Roadford Lake

Roadford Lake Angling and Watersports Centre, Nr Okehampton, Devon
Located on the edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Launceston with 730 acres of water, Roadford Lake is the largest inland water in the South West. Set in picturesque surroundings, Roadford is an ideal venue to learn a new watersport skills or develop existing skills.

With excellent facilities for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, beginners to the experienced will be in their element with courses, self launch and hire provision along with multi-activity days.

Canoe Tamar

Gunnislake, Cornwall

Bantham - South Devon
Bantham is one of South Devon's most consistently high quality surfing locations, famed for producing long quality rides. Be warned, Bantham is notorious for severe rips which can be treacherous for beginners. Low to mid tide is usually best for experienced surfers, with high tide producing a mellower wave, ideal for beginners or the inexperienced.

Bude - North Cornwall

Bude is an excellent surf beach and has waves to suit all abilities at all stages of tide.

Croyde - North Devon
This beach offers good quality surf at all stages of the tide, however at low tide it can be particularly good, often epic. Beginners beware as the surf at low tide can be very dangerous for the inexperienced.

Fistral - Newquay, North Cornwall
Fistral is probably the UK's most famous surfing beach. It has waves to suit all levels and provides quality surf at all tides. Be warned, due to the popularity of this beach, it does get very busy in the summer!  Fistral is also home to the new National Surfing Centre which is run by the British Surfing Association. (B.S.A.), located right on the beach where you can hire equipment, leave valuables and have something to eat.

Perranporth - North Cornwall
Perranporth offers a long stretch of beach that can be surfed through all tides, with waves to suit all abilities.

Polzeath - North Cornwall

Very good beach for beginners, as there are a lot of facilities here that remain open all year round. The waves are perfectly suitable for inexperienced surfers.

Woolacombe - North Devon
This beach works well at all stages of tide and has waves to suit all abilities.

Whitsand Bay - South Cornwall
You can surf this beach at all stages of tide but beginners should be aware of rips. Only certain parts of this beach are accessible due to an MOD firing range located at the top of the cliffs. The red flags are raised to indicate areas where you can and can't surf.
